13 Scary-Awesome Horror Movie Homes That We'd Totally Live In

Have you ever watched a horror movie and wondered, "Why do these people keep buying houses where serial killers went on murder sprees?" Well, after seeing the beautiful homes where famously scary films were shot, you might change your tune. From adorable country cottages to expansive palaces, these 13 horror-movie homes are definitely worth the risk of ghosts! After all, what's a couple of monsters compared to a dream home?

Insidious

While an accident in the attic may have caused the frightening events in Insidious to unfold, we'd still use the "haunted" upstairs space of this Los Angeles mansion for storing Christmas decorations and old home movies. A massive yard, charming exterior, and tons of space to decorate make a teensy little demon infestation worthwhile.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

In A Nightmare on Elm Street, the teen protagonists keep themselves awake because Freddy Kreuger haunts their nightmares . . . but our dreams are filled with visions of the Los Angeles home where the horror franchise was filmed! Its farmhouse style and bright-red door are too picturesque to frighten us.

Pet Sematary

This countryside home comes with tons of land and a haunted cemetery? We're in! Can you really blame the Creed family from Pet Sematary for staying at the bright-yellow house even after weird stuff started happening?

Psycho

Psycho

The house from Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (and now the hit show Bates Motel) would be a stunner with a fresh paint job and new roof — we'd be willing to ignore Norman Bates's dead mom in the cellar for the chance to give the home some much needed TLC!

Amityville Horror

Amityville Horror

The original Amityville Horror film was shot within these historic farmhouse walls, but we think it would be the perfect location for more than just exorcisms . . . namely, for holiday parties and decidedly un-haunted activities.

House on Haunted Hill

Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the Ennis House in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz served as the setting for the spooky 1950s film House on Haunted Hill. If another millionaire ever offers money to stay overnight in this home, we'll be the first volunteers!

The Birds

The Potter Schoolhouse, where Alfred Hitchcock's classic The Birds was famously filmed, is now a private residence in Bodega, CA. We only wish we'd snatched it up first! What harm could a few birds do to such a beautiful estate?

Halloween

Halloween

While it may have been home to fictional killer Michael Myers, this South Pasadena, CA, house is frighteningly gorgeous in real life. We could get over the home's Halloween past to enjoy life inside its blue walls!

The Others

The Others

You don't have to be a Nicole Kidman fan to remember the massive mansion from The Others. Filmed at the Spanish Palacio de Hornillos, the horror flick spent plenty of time highlighting the estate's beautiful features. Even if the castle is filled with ghosts, we'd love to spend a few nights within its walls!

When a Stranger Calls

When a Stranger Calls

In the 2006 remake of When a Stranger Calls, a frightening stranger calls the protagonist (a teenage babysitter) from inside the house — and can you blame him? Look at that beautiful architecture! The villain may have stopped us from babysitting for a few weeks in high school, but he certainly wouldn't stop us from moving into this modern beauty.

The Exorcist

The Exorcist

The Georgetown, Washington DC, home where Regan MacNeil's demonic possession first horrified The Exorcist viewers is a red-brick beauty — we could totally live in this city abode as long as we had a priest on speed dial!

Hell Night

While it may not have turned out well for the sorority and fraternity pledges in Hell Night, we're willing to take our chances at the Kimberly Crest house. Since it's now a beautiful venue for weddings and events, it's safe to assume that nobody is getting massacred in the home these days!

The Orphanage

The gorgeous Palacio de Partarríu set the scene for Spanish-language thriller (and my personal favorite horror movie of all time) The Orphanage. Though it's filled with the spirits of orphaned children in the film, the real estate is a gorgeous stone mansion in the Spanish countryside. A few nights enjoying the Palacio's hardwood floors and massive windows would be worth dealing with creepy kids, right?
