Ladies of Venezuela, step away from your hot tools! President Nicolás Maduro is addressing the country's crippling energy crisis in every way possible — including female beauty standards.

Though unruly hair is often unfairly considered "pelo malo" in Latin America, President Maduro wants to see more women embrace their natural texture in the spirit of saving valuable resources. "I always think a woman looks better when she just runs her fingers through her hair and lets it dry naturally," he cheekily offered after recommending that women only use a hair dryer on "special occasions."

It's unclear whether this will really help save the country from future energy-related issues, but it's a great excuse to finally embrace and rock your natural look. Need some inspiration? See our guide to fighting frizz and all the latest Spring hair trends.
