The New Cars 3 Movie Will Feature a Latina Character

Cars 3 has a Latina lead, and it's (drum roll, please): Cristela Alonzo. Pixar just dropped the first trailer to the next installment of the Disney franchise, premiering on June 16, and revealed the comedian is voicing Cruz Ramirez, a yellow car that has to help Lightning McQueen get back on his feet.

The Mexican-American shared a poster of her character on Instagram, and you can feel her excitement from reading her caption. "I am THRILLED to be playing Cruz, a Latina car and (the way @Pixar wrote her) a great role model for girls! There will be a Latina car toy that kids can own. I ❤ that so much! #Cars3," she wrote.

Pixar also released a toy of Cristela's car, which she was quick to post on Instagram, too. "This is me. This is me as a car. #Cruztela #Cars3," she captioned the photo.
