Exclusive! This Is How to Get Gina Rodriguez's Teen Choice Awards Makeup
Sure, we were stunned by Gina Rodriguez's unexpected tuxedo on the red carpet of the 2016 Teen Choice Awards, but we could not get our eyes off her gorgeous, subtle makeup. The Jane the Virgin star perfectly complemented her new blond hair color with soft shades of pink, all created by makeup artist Carissa Ferreri for Clinique.
"For Gina's look at the Teen Choice Awards, I wanted to create a feminine and fresh monochromatic look using pink hues — I thought it was a nice juxtaposition against the black suit she would be wearing and created some balance," Carissa said. Scroll ahead for an exclusive step-by-step to get Gina's beauty look, plus a few gorgeous behind-the-scenes photos of how she got ready to hit the red carpet at this year's TCA.
Before Carissa could get to the color, she started by prepping Gina's skin with Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and Pore Refining Solutions Instant Perfector, depuffing her eyes with All About Eyes Serum. On Gina's lips, she used the Chubby Stick Baby Tint in Flowering Freesia to make her skin supple. Then came a primer, foundation, concealer, and a pink powder shadow used as blush on the apples of her cheeks.
To create the actress's baby-pink lids, Carissa had an intense process — yes, they looked simple, but they were not! She applied the Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Pink and Plenty and blended it all over the lid, sheering out the color on the edges. In the center of the lid, she used the same product in Biggest Blossom to add a hint of rose gold, sealing everything with powder eye shadow (All About Shadow in Bubble Bath and Strawberry Fudge). For a bit of highlight in the corner of Gina's eyes, Carissa swiped the Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Bountiful Beige, finishing with a few coats of Lash Power Flutter-to-Full Mascara in Black Onyx.
On Gina's strong eyebrows, Carissa applied both the Superfine Liner for Brows in Deep Brown and Just Browsing Brush-On Styling Mousse in Deep Brown. On her lips, Gina wore only Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Curvy Candy.
