Cuba's National Team Will Be Heading to the Olympics in Style — Thanks to This Designer

After a transformative year for the island nation, Cuba's finest athletes will be heading to the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro sporting some pretty elegant ensembles specially designed by Christian Louboutin.

The famous designer teamed up with the French concept store Sporty Henri to create the Cuban National Team's celebratory outfits — typically worn at formal occasions throughout the games, as well as the closing ceremony. Each outfit is centered around a sharp military jacket in red or khaki, with the female athletes in patriotic kitten heels and the sportsmen in cool sneakers.

In a press release, Henri Tai — the founder of Sporty Henri — described the importance behind designing the athletes' outfits, saying, "We designed the celebratory outfit for the moment they turn back into humans, still in that glory moment, still in their light but heading back to the real world. We really want them to continue feeling amazing in their skin while looking astonishing."
