There's a lot of wisdom to be shared from our grandmothers, and many of our abuelitas have offered up both welcomed and unsolicited beauty advice, especially when it comes to our presentation. In the hopes that their life experiences can leave us all with some sage life lessons, POPSUGAR staffers asked their abuelas for some beauty advice or remembered the lessons they were taught by them. Whether it's applying Noxzema after the beach or making sure our fingernails are clean to ensure a good first impression, these women know what they're talking about.

Ahead, check out our beloved abuelitas' best beauty tips, and don't forget to check in on your own. She might just have some life-changing advice.

Keep Yourself Looking Nice

"My abuelita advised picking a signature fragrance and sticking with it, wearing lipstick that complements your skin tone (not your outfit), and concealing your pimples instead of popping them. Also, keep your fingernails shaped and clean even if they're unpolished because nothing will kill a first impression like dirty fingernails." — Cassandra Valdes, associate director, Creative Services

Take Care of Your Skin

"My grandma says that her top two tips are to always take your makeup off before going to sleep and apply sunscreen every day. Put it on the back of your hands, too, to avoid sun damage when driving." — Charisandra Perez, coordinator, Social Media and Partnerships

Use Noxzema For All Your Skincare Woes

"My abuelita's only advice (aside from always offering me a Revlon brick-red lipstick from her purse) is to always keep Noxzema with you. She claims it's important to apply it after the beach, but I think I'll be sticking to a healthy amount of sunscreen." — Sarah Siegel, assistant editor, Beauty

Take Care of Yourself

"I aspire to age like my grandma. She is full of so much energy, shows minimal signs of aging, and to this day loves to indulge in a beautiful, bright red lipstick. Her secret? Don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, and don't go to bed too late. Sure, Abuelita's words of wisdom might be a little old school, but honestly, I'll do whatever she says if it means I get to look like her at her age." — Genesis Rivas, assistant editor, Makeup.com and Skincare.com

Keep Perfume Handy

Keep Perfume Handy

"My abuela loved Opium perfume (every time I smell it, I think of her), and she always said you should never underestimate a good fragrance. For her, it masked the scent that comes with sweat and hard work. She worked as a maid at Caesars in Vegas and cleaned 15-17 rooms a day, then walked home in 110-degree heat for two miles, so a little spritz here and there made a big difference." — Kelsey Castañon, senior editor, Beauty
