We've been trying to be more mindful about how and where we spend our money these days, while also making a conscious effort to support Latinx entrepreneurs, creators, and business owners as often as possible. Latinx fashion designers and clothing companies are not something we hear about often, but they exist and are out here making some seriously stylish and thoughtful clothing.

There was definitely a time when even the idea of buying clothes, shoes, and accessories from a Latinx-owned shop, let alone created by Latinx designers, wasn't even on the radar, largely because representation was severely lacking. But now, we know that sometimes in order to support each other, we have to do a little digging and find those small businesses ourselves. With the holiday season approaching, we definitely have shopping on our minds. From sassy T-shirts to outerwear and everything in between, here are some of our favorite Latinx-owned fashion brands to shop if you're looking to dress up this sala season or gift someone something chic!

Farm Rio

Farm Rio

Farm Rio is a Brazilian-owned fashion brand that has been around for more than two decades and always manages to stay true to its Latin American roots. From the textures and colors to its commitment to using diverse models, everything about the brand resonates with the Latinx community.

The bold Farm Rio Blue Abstract Patches Maxi Dress ($315) is one of our favorites right now. The colors are rich and striking, and the cut looks ultracomfy without being too casual for, say, your next holiday party. This transitional piece can be dressed down with nude sandals for your next vacation getaway or dressed up with a pair of chunky or strappy heels for your next festive outing.

MCLC

MCLC

MCLC is a Latina-owned shoe brand with a meaningful mission. Created by Guatemalan American designer Jacqueline Velasquez, the company features inclusive, eco-conscious footwear designs that are meant to evoke specific emotions in anyone who wears them or sees them. The line also donates a portion of every sale to nonprofit organizations.

Currently, MCLC is focusing on "balance," using an iteration of the classic yin and yang symbol on mules, slides, and boots available in various colors. We love the versatility of the MCLC Balancing Act Mule ($95), which is constructed from vegan leather. You can probably get away with wearing these throughout the seasons.

Hija de tu Madre

Hija de tu Madre

We are obsessed with fashion brand Hija de tu Madre's empowering casual wear and accessories. If you're the type to wear your Latinx pride on your chest, Hija de tu Madre, created by Patty Delgado, is definitely for you. This sequined Hija de tu Madre Frida Jacket ($170) is a showstopper. It comes in either blue or black denim and features brightly colored sequins that evoke the essence of the icon's art. Plus, each and every one is made to order.

If you're looking for a statement necklace for yourself or to gift a cozy hoodie that your bestie is bound to love, this brand has got you covered.

Esant

Esant

Esant is a Latinx-owned luxury clothing brand out of Mexico that focuses on creating functional and versatile clothing that is aesthetically interesting, while still being totally wearable and comfortable. It does a bit of everything, including workplace essentials like blazers and blouses and glamorous capes and coats.

This modernized Esant 3D Pocket Long Coat ($260) is everything. Its updated design adds visual interest, but the coat still looks like a functional classic that is just as suitable over a pair of jeans as it is over a holiday cocktail dress. We're just saying.

Cuyana

Cuyana

We cannot express how much we love the concept of Cuyana. Owned by Ecuadorian immigrant Karla Gallardo, the label is all about fashion minimalism. Essentially, the idea is that we don't need quite as many items cluttering up our closets if we invest in high-quality staples that will stand the test of time. It sells a full range of gorgeous leather accessories and a variety of comfy fashion basics, including matching sweat sets and bodysuits, all constructed with care and sustainability in mind.

The stunning Cuyana Oversized Double Loop Bag ($395) is the type of tote that you'll definitely want to take out this holiday season. It's chic enough to go with any holiday dresses but also roomy and durable. We are absolutely swooning over this merlot color.

Mi Golondrina

Mi Golondrina

Inspired by her mother's Mexican heritage, founder Cristina Lynch launched Mi Golondrina with the goal of honoring traditional Mexican art forms like embroidery. All of the garments sold by Mi Golondrina are hand-stitched by artisans from communities throughout Mexico, who are paid a fair wage for their work. The line offers many styles of dresses and blouses and even some one-of-a-kind pieces.

One of our favorites is the Mi Golondrina Flores Blouse ($195) in the "lago oro y plata" colorway. It's a deep midnight-blue top, embroidered with gorgeous gold and silver embroidery, that serves up the perfect amount of holiday sparkle.

Rabble & Rouse

Rabble & Rouse

Rabble & Rouse makes T-shirts that will help you let everyone and anyone know exactly where you stand on the issues that matter. Based in Atlanta and created by Latinx owner Vanessa Toro, the line's tagline is "Give all the damns." The shirts are simple, soft, and to the point, featuring slogans like "chingona come mi abuela" and "respect the locals." The company even donates some of its profits to charities local to the Atlanta area.

We love the Rabble & Rouse Rise Rebel Resist T-Shirt ($30) because it basically sums up everything the brand is about and makes a bold statement that we can all get behind. Plus, it comes in wide range of sizes, and each shirt is custom printed. Looking for a Christmas gift your socially conscious and politically active bestie might love? Rabble & Rouse has got you!

Andrea Gomez

Andrea Gomez

Andrea Gomez literally has a shoe for every occasion. From kick-around boots perfect for the fall and winter months to trendy pumps and mules, this designer makes beautiful, well-made shoes in a huge variety of styles. Every shoe is made in small, family-owned factories in Italy, and a portion of the company's profits goes toward helping children in need in Andrea's home country of Venezuela.

The Andrea Gomez Chiara 95 Black Lucite Boot ($725) is made of soft leather and features a cushioned insole. If you're looking to spend, it's the perfect way to bring the lucite trend into fall and even winter.

Clandestina

Clandestina

Clandestina is a history-making fashion line out of Cuba. The company launched in 2015 as the first independent design outlet in Cuba and soon after became the first Cuban clothing brand to sell its products online and ship to anywhere in the world. It features trendy, casual wear inspired by the island and constructed with materials that are often recycled.

This adorable Clandestina Deportivas Denim Bucket Hat ($45) is super on trend, works all season long (yes, folks are still rocking bucket hats during the winter), is made of recycled materials, and is reversible. It comes in three sizes, but the fabric is actually denim with a little bit of stretch, making for a comfy fit.

Flor de Maria
flordemariacollection.com

Flor de Maria

We have been drooling over Flor de Maria shoes for some time now. Fashionista Flor de Maria Rivera, who is originally from Peru, gave up a career as a sports journalist to pursue her fashion dreams in New York City and ended up launching her own line of high heels. All of the label's shoes are chic and trendy and have some sort of unique element that makes them stand out.

The super-sexy Flor de Maria Claudia Sandal ($325) is one of our faves. It's a costly price point, but you're getting your money's worth with its handmade and high-quality suede. We're loving the four-inch heel and the the fact that the ties are long enough to be worn around the ankle or up the calf.

JZD
shopjzd.com

JZD

JZD is a Latinx-owned lifestyle brand that launched in 2016 and now sells empowering apparel, accessories, and home goods that are affordable and super cute. Born out of passion and determination, founders Jen and Vero persisted through poverty and struggle to make the line what it is today, and we love to be able to support them as they support the Latinx community.

We think these JZD Feliz Stud Earrings ($32) are the perfect holiday accessory for anyone who might need to remind certain family members that you don't need their approval (or advice) to be perfectly happy and content.

Salva Negra
selvanegra.us

Salva Negra

Salva Negra is a Latina-owned and -founded fashion label that uses sustainable materials and ethical production practices to create clothing that is versatile while still having personality and, perhaps most importantly, being comfortable.

The Salva Negra Sandia Blouse ($138, originally $230) is the perfect statement piece for a holiday outing with friends. The structured shape and details are so interesting and figure flattering, but our favorite part is the open back, which features a delicate tie at the neck. It's available in two colors, but this deep teal is our fave.
