Electrocumbia artist Raymix surprised his fans with a heartfelt video revealing he's gay. Raymix, whose real name is Edmundo Gómez Moreno, began his message by acknowledging everything that's happening in the world, from the pandemic to racial inequality. "It's clear that the world is loudly claiming a lack of love," he added, "and that's what I want to talk to you about."

He went on to say that some people in the music industry suggested he hide his truth and pretend to be someone he's not in order to continue selling concert tickets and be successful, because fans were "not ready for a cumbia or regional music artist who might be 'different' to the others."

"For so many years I've believed that the most important thing is to be real and genuine, and I feel good because that's how I am," Raymix said, adding that just like anyone else, he's lived a series of experiences that have taught him that "denying yourself is the biggest betrayal." "That's why," he added, "with a lot of pride in knowing who I am, I want to let everyone know that I'm gay."
