Meet Victoria Volkova, the First Trans Woman on the Cover of Playboy Mexico

Mexican influencer, vlogger, and now model Victoria Volokova has just made history as the first trans woman to appear on the cover of Playboy Mexico. "We stand behind sexual freedom in every dimension," reads the article that accompanies the sexy images and an open letter penned by Victoria in which she explains what it means to be trans in Mexico in 2020.

"This cover celebrates the different ways of being a woman, the different ways of being beautiful, the different ways in which one can explore their sensuality and enjoy the process," she said in an Instagram post revealing the cover. "I hope this cover makes people more curious, makes people want to learn more about themselves, and what it means to be trans."

Most Influential

In 2018, she made the list of Forbes Most Powerful Women for her Activism. "We need more programs to educate people and let them know that there is not just one type of family, nor just two genders," she explained in the financial magazine.

Youtube star

With over a million subscribers on Youtube, in her videos the Mexican influencer describes all kinds of very personal stories, sometimes while doing her makeup. Her coming out story video featuring her mom, or the ones in which she describes in detail her gender reassignment surgery in Thailand, have millions and millions of views.

Soul sister

Her younger sister Cynthia is her best friend and she goes with her everywhere. "I hope we all choose to live a life that makes us truly happy just like you did," she wrote in an Instagram post next to her sister's cover for Playboy.

Signature look

She is also a makeup artist, and admits her favorite beauty look is red lips "always." Her signature color is Siouxsie, from Nars, and we get why.

Dog lover

She is also a dog mother to Leonor, a rescue she adopted through a friend. "I have never connected like this with a dog. Having her by my side makes every day better. Doggies are magical, adopt and let yourself be loved."

Her heritage

After loosing her dad when she was only 11 years old, she learned from him "how to always want to know more, educate and better myself," she remembers on Instagram.

Au naturel

On her Youtube channel and Instagram feed, she speaks often and openly about battling with her image and accepting herself. "Days like today, when I don't do my hair (yes, it is naturally curly), I don't wear makeup, and I even let my puberty pimples show, help me make peace with my dysphoria."

World Traveler

Before the pandemic, she spent the past couple years traveling all over the world. From Thailand, to Berlin, Paris, and California, she's been everywhere!

A star is born

"I've never acted before and I have to admit it hasn't been easy," she said while applying glitter on her eyelids in one of her makeup tutorials on Youtube in which she announced she was going to be in a movie. "I never studied for this or pursued a career in acting, [...] but I think when stuff like this comes to you, you have to say yes and let it flow. The worst thing that can happen is that it's not perfect the first time, and then you just learn how to do it." The film that is expected to be in Mexican theaters in 2021, is a sequel to Sexo, pudor y lágrimas, an iconic Mexican drama released in 1999 that touched on issues like machismo, complicated relationships, and infidelity.

Ink addict

She is covered in tattoos of all shapes and styles. One of her cutest is this constellation of her zodiac sign, Sagittarius, that she shares with her best friend Monica, an Aries.
