This Forever 21 Men's T-Shirt Will Make Your Blood Boil

I honestly don't even know how many people this recent Forever 21 men's t-shirt went through for approval. Like, who is the guy (because, I mean, it was probably/definitely a guy) who looked at this rapey article of clothing quoted as saying "don't say maybe if you want to say no" and thought, "yep, this is definitely a winner"? Whether or not the message was intended to imply an excuse for partaking in nonconsensual relations, that's definitely how it's taken. The shirt downplays the seriousness of the idea of "no means no" and effectively fosters rape culture.

The company has since pulled the shirt from the site due to backlash. NY Mag reached out to Forever 21 for a comment, and the company responded by saying that it "strives to exemplify the highest ethical standards and takes feedback and product concerns very seriously," adding that "with regards to the T-shirt in question, upon receiving feedback from our customers, we took immediate action to have it removed from our website. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the product."
