This Is Hands Down the Best Reaction to the Kim Davis News

Thank you, dear Internet, for providing a constant stream of witty, hilarious, and perfect reactions to absurdities in life, like the news about Kim Davis. Kim Davis is the clerk from Rowan County, KY, who refuses to give marriage licenses to same-sex couples, citing "God's authority" as justification, even though the Supreme Court ruled gay marriage legal nationwide. After a video of one couple's experience with Kim went viral, the clerk quickly began making headlines.

In a statement, Kim said, "To issue a marriage license which conflicts with God's definition of marriage, with my name affixed to the certificate, would violate my conscience. It is not a light issue for me. It is a Heaven or Hell decision. For me it is a decision of obedience." Oh, and she has been divorced three times and had children out of wedlock (not that there's anything wrong with that or with her religious beliefs . . . just that she's claiming to uphold the sanctity of marriage while denying these couples the right).

But anyway, the clerk was taken to jail today for contempt of court, which is defined as "the offense of being disobedient to or disrespectful towards a court of law and its officers in the form of behavior that opposes or defies authority, justice, and dignity of the court." With so many varying reactions to a topic as divisive as same-sex marriage, the Internet has a lot to say. We personally think that the following tweet is, hands down, the best reaction and sums it up perfectly.

You go, Grandma! Here's to understanding that all humans should have the same rights.
