If you found out your daughter was at a tattoo parlor, there's a good chance you'd be upset. Well, leave it to card maker American Greetings to turn that idea on its head in a touching new commercial for Mother's Day.

In the minute-long ad, a girl gets her very first tattoo, smack dab on her wrist, and when we finally see what it is, it's "Keep Shining" written in handwriting. The girl pulls out a greeting card, signed by her mom, that includes that exact phrase in that exact style.

"I think she would have liked it," the girl says.

And in that moment, it's clear that this wasn't a stereotypical act of teenage rebellion but a touching tribute — proof that one everyday card from a mother to her daughter can leave an impression that lasts forever.
