This Mom Is Making a Statement With Her Side-by-Side Pre- and Postpregnancy Bumps

Anupa King had to build up a lot of courage to share a bump photo while pregnant with her second baby, a boy named Levi, taken hours before his birth. Now, three weeks postpartum, the mom says she had to "times that [courage] by like a million" to share a postpartum belly photo juxtaposed with the first, but she faced her fears of judgment for good reason.

"One of the main reasons I share this, as most of you know, THIS is a marathon/dancer's body, and while that can mean I'll bounce back in no time, it clearly doesn't," King wrote in the caption of the side-by-side bump photo posted to Instagram. "Especially now, too, that my body is producing all of Levi's food. I really do admire all the mamas out there that say breastfeeding get[s] their bodies back in shape. For me it'll take me back on the trails for some long-distance running to feel like myself again."

The mom continues, sharing that the baker at her grocery store asked her if she was having a boy or girl, and though that would normally have hit a nerve with her because she's no longer pregnant, she chose to smile and answer, "I had a boy," instead.

"After I left the supermarket, I realised I absolutely love my body and am so super proud of it, hence the reason I chose to share this post image with you," she wrote, capping off her post with a sentiment so many moms need to hear. "And however long it takes for my body to journey back to where it [once was], that's fine. I know it'll find its way; until then I'll continue to be kind, knowing that it's doing exactly what it needs to be doing right now for me and for Levi!"
