This Zombie Apocalypse Parody About Paid Family Leave Would Be Funnier If it Wasn't So True

Breaking news: there's an epidemic wiping out America's workforce . . . babies.

A clever video from Make It Work highlights the absurdity of America's lack of maternity leave policies with a Walking Dead-style zombie outbreak news segment.

In it, an on-the-scene reporter explains that these peekaboo-loving babies — who demand food, shelter, and binkies — have overrun offices "after employees brought their babies to work when they couldn't take time off or find childcare but needed to earn wages."

Reports from officials confirmed that the pandemic has ended in every industrialized country in the world except the US.

How'd these other nations solve the crisis? According to the White House spokesperson, "With something called 'paid family leave' — I will need to confirm that pronunciation. Many others also have 'a- aff- affordable childca– . . . I'm sorry, I'm not too great with foreign languages."

Make It Work — an education campaign aimed to help working families, particularly women, regain economic stability — clearly knows that for a lot of people, starting a family can feel like the end of the world.

Watch the video, but before you laugh too hard (to keep from crying), head over to the organization's site to see what else you can do to stave off a full-on baby outbreak.
