Sneak Peek: Edun Creates Globally Conscious, Philanthropic Collection For Crewcuts

Look good, do good! J.Crew's Crewcuts children's division has been raising awareness of global issues since its Garments for Good philanthropic program began. But the latest designer to join the initiative may be the most high profile yet. Edun — the globally sourced line founded by Ali Hewson and her musician husband, Bono — designed its first childrenswear collection for the chain, and it's full of adorably fashion-forward styles that will spruce up kids' wardrobes this Spring.

The collection, designed by Edun's Danielle Sherman using Crewcuts's traditional shapes and cuts, features seven tribal-themed pieces (ranging from $49-$198), including two t-shirts that are part of the Garments for Good program ($44 each). Fifty percent of the retail price of the shirts will go to St. Anne's orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya.

"The factory we are working with for the clothes in the collection is located in Nairobi, Kenya, where the St. Anne's orphanage is as well," Jenny Cooper, head designer for Crewcuts, said. "It also is the same factory that makes the orphanage students' bedding and clothing. The fact that Crewcuts is supporting commerce, manufacturing, and education is extremely important to us."

The pieces hit Crewcuts's New York City stores on Tuesday and can be bought online beginning March 11. Highlights of the collection include a printed slip-on sneaker and a beaded tunic that we're hoping they'll also make in grown-up sizes! Read on for a first look at all seven pieces!
