Father With Cancer Walks Daughter Down the Aisle

The Father/Daughter Wedding Video You Don't Want to Miss

Many little girls plan their picture-perfect wedding day and then wait several years to bring the dream to life. For Josie Metz, however, her special day arrived a few years early. Josie's father, Jim, who suffers from pancreatic cancer, wanted to do something memorable for his daughter's 11th birthday — the last one he is likely to celebrate with her. He enlisted the help of his wife, Grace, and California-based photographer Lindsey Villatoro, who provides photo sessions to terminally ill clients. They settled on a wedding theme in order for Jim and Josie to experience the special moment of a father walking his girl down the aisle. After procuring flowers, desserts, a ring, and a dress, the big day arrived. The only thing left was to tell Josie.

"She was a little bit overwhelmed when her mom picked her up from school and told her," Lindsey tells The Huffington Post. "Later she said, 'This is the best day of my life.' She was very glad and excited to have these moments."

To see photos from Josie's special day, read the full story on The Huffington Post.

I'm sorry, but as the mother of eight (grown) children, three of whom are married, I can't finish this video...I get too emotional. I do feel very sad for this family, grateful that I have not had to face this sad fact of life...but really?? It's just kinda weird for my tastes...thanks anyway, tho'...prayers for this man & his family.

I losted my daddy almost three years of my dads promises to me was he would be the one to walk me down the aisle. im not yet ready for marriage yet... but if I knew he was going to past... I would of did this too even if I was 11... its more of emotional bond between the two... some of you got this story twisted... he didnt let her get married to anyone... he simply put a promise ring on her pointing finger... yall people need to take some personal development class and stop being so negative...

I have to say, I cannot wait until the day that the sexist and archaic practice of fathers "giving away" their daughters dies out. I find nothing cute, touching, nor charming about this story. I'm sorry for the little girl for the loss of her father. It's a terrible thing, but holding a mock wedding to give dad a chance to trade his daughter like cattle is ridiculous.

Sorry, but this does sound strange--the fantasy that she's marrying daddy as a way of remembering him?
