When This Mom Leaked in Public, Her Husband Did 1 Simple Thing to Make Her Feel Amazing
Moms are superheroes, and while they absolutely can do it all, it definitely takes a village. Whether that means going on a late-night diaper run or cleaning up the third pile of vomit of the day, they appreciate all the help they can get. For one mom, who goes by boobelife on Instagram, it wasn't until her second child that she realized she had to sit her husband down and explicitly ask for help, and everything has changed since.
She explained that while breastfeeding their first child, a boy, she was "extremely insecure," adding, "I felt very alone and didn't have much of his support as he was going through his own struggles in life." But with their second child, she needed to speak up.
"I needed his support and encouragement and for him not to let me give up when I wanted to," the mother of two wrote. "He didn't realize how much I needed his support until I actually opened my mouth and expressed it to him and boy has he come through. There has def been a few times where I was ready to give up and he didn't let me. From 1 am trips to Walgreens for nipple shields to scrubbing gentian Violet off the bathroom counter, he has done things so much differently for me this time around and it has helped me succeed in so many ways."
Recently, she started leaking while out running errands with her husband, so what did he do? He didn't run and get pads at the drugstore; the damage was already done! He dabbed a napkin in some water and gave himself his own leaking nipple, "so I wouldn't be alone." And that right there is a support system. Sure, he was on his way to work and definitely didn't want a wet shirt, but that's what you do when your wife is leaking.
"Everyday we recognize the moms who breastfeed but today I just wanted to give a little shout out to my biggest fan," she wrote.
If this mama had never asked her husband for support during their second pregnancy, he perhaps would've never known she needed it. It's important to speak up, because you never know when you might leak!
