Mom Got Pregnant With Twins After Taking Fertility Pills

1 Woman Gave Her Family Twice the Good News in This Sweet Pregnancy Announcement

The Shock Of Our Lives

"After our son turned one, we talked about trying for #2. I had taken fertility treatments to get pregnant with my son so, after a few months, we decided it was time. After the first two months of it not working, I decided to give myself a break - fertility meds are tough on your body and the entire process can be mentally and emotionally taxing. I took a month off and decided to try one more month.

In the weeks leading up to our first ultrasound, I was incredibly tired - like an exhaustion I had never experienced before. I said a few times - 'What if there are two in there?' Even though we knew it was a possibility (as any fertility treatments increase your chances of multiples), my husband laughed it off - 'Morgan, there is no way there are two.' So I shrugged it off and blamed it on keeping up with a wild and crazy toddler.

Little did we know, our 7 week ultrasound (customary for those who take Clomid), would be the shock of our life. All three of us (myself, my husband and my son) got settled in and ready for the ultrasound. The ultrasound tech swiped across my stomach once, then twice. Then a third time. My husband was engrossed in a video on his phone with my son, but I saw it. Two babies. I saw two babies. I kept silent - as I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Then the ultrasound tech said it. 'Morgan, you have two babies in there.' My husband's head shot up. We looked at each other and started laughing. Was this real life? We left the ultrasound with feelings of excitement and terror. Could we really do this? We live five hours away from our family - how are we going to do this?

After stuffing our face with tacos, we decided we had to do something awesome to announce it to our families. It's hard to keep any pregnancy quiet. It was nearly impossible to keep THIS pregnancy quiet. The day of our son's 2nd birthday was the day. After the food, gifts and birthday celebration, we handed out 4 paper bags - one to each of our parents.

My father-in-law opened the first bag. 'Guess What?'

At that point - everyone knew. My mother-in law opened the second bag: 'I'm going to be a big brother.'

Next up was my mom: 'Mama's due with Baby #2.'

My dad had the last bag. Little did he know, he was holding the best part of the surprise: 'And Baby #3!'

The excitement and love that filled the room was more than enough to squash our fears and insecurities about this pregnancy. We knew right then - we can do this!."

M. Hill's family got a big surprise shortly after she started taking fertility pills to get pregnant with another baby. Hill, who was on the fertility drug Clomid, found out that she carrying not one baby but two and surprised her family in the sweetest way.

Days before her seven-week ultrasound, Hill had a hunch something was up because she was feeling tired lately.

"[I had] an exhaustion I had never experienced before," she explained. "I said a few times — 'What if there are two in there?' Even though we knew it was a possibility (as any fertility treatments increase your chances of multiples), my husband laughed it off — 'Morgan, there is no way there are two.' So I shrugged it off and blamed it on keeping up with a wild and crazy toddler."

At the ultrasound appointment, the Hill family got some good news: they were pregnant with two babies.

"Was this real life? We left the ultrasound with feelings of excitement and terror," she wrote. "Could we really do this? We live five hours away from our family — how are we going to do this?"

But after chowing down on some tacos, the pair decided to announce the pregnancy to both their parents at their son's second birthday party, and it made the situation even sweeter.

Hill had their parents line up and gave them each a brown bag to hold. As they took turns opening them, their parents we thrilled — but not totally shocked — about the first pregnancy announcement. But when they realized the couple was having twins, everyone went wild.

"The excitement and love that filled the room was more than enough to squash our fears and insecurities about this pregnancy," she said. "We knew right then — we can do this!"
