For any child born prematurely, the first few weeks (and sometimes months) of their lives can be a challenge for both them and their parents. And for some newborns, wearing a diaper is one of those challenges, as the smallest preemies are sometimes too delicate to wear one just yet. However, the latest release from Pampers actually features a "flat" diaper created for the tiniest babies.

The flat diapers, which are the first of its kind, will finally give NICU doctors and nurses an option when it comes to diapering their smallest residents. The new line is designed to lay flat under the child and maximize skin exposure since babies often don't wear anything while in the NICU. They're also free of any elastic, fragrance, and any sort of tape, according to the press release.

Pampers has partnered with the March of Dimes for Prematurity Awareness Month to give every hospital with a NICU in the US a box of flat diapers to give "the littlest fighters" a leg up developmentally.
