When a Teacher's Dog Passed Away, 1 Sweet Student Comforted Her in the Perfect Way

Pets are part of the family, and losing a cherished member of your pack can be absolutely devastating. It's hard to cope with the death of a pet, especially when it was a member of your household for many years. When Scottish Twitter user Lucie Dunne and her family had to put down their dog, her mom took the loss especially hard. As a teacher, Mrs. Dunne was stressing about going back to the classroom after the emotional loss, probably knowing she'd have to field the awkward questions and comments that kids are so prone to tossing out. But one thoughtful child in her class knew the perfect way to comfort his grieving teacher — with a poem.

Written in pencil, a student gave the teacher a note labeled: "To Mrs. Dunne, sorry if you don't like it or it makes you emotional." Inside the note was a poem about Mrs. Dunne's dearly departed dog, written in a way that spells his name, Charlie, with the first letter of every line. The student, Callum, wrote about his teacher's dog being:

And finished off with the sweetest sentiment of all: "But most of all, I know your dog was special and your dog is in a better place and looking over you." Cue the tears! We're sure that even though she is grieving, the teacher's heart was warmed by her student's sweet gesture — we know ours were.
