The 1 Reason This Family Was Late For Church Will Make Any Mom Smile From Ear to Ear

Leslie Means is one of those rare moms who is always on time for things, but she let being late slide just this once after her daughter said she wanted to dress like her for church one morning.

The proud mama shared a photo on her blog, Her View From Home, of the pair in matching outfits.

"Five minutes before we left (which was about five minutes before church began) my girl saw my outfit and said: 'Mom! I have an outfit just like that. Hold on, let me change so I can look like you,'" explained Means.

The mother said she doesn't typically let her little one cut it so close when it comes to changing outfits because it can pretty much double the time it takes the family to get out the door.

"Now usually, I would NOT let this girl change her clothes," she wrote. "She's always been particular about what she wears. And she always takes longer than her sister to find something just right. Usually, it's an accomplishment just to get something on her body and feet and out the door."

But Means let her daughter change out of a summery dress to a brand-new back-to-school outfit just this once for a supersweet reason.

"My baby girl wanted to look like me. Me. The mom who is never really sure if she's doing it right. Me. The mom who (in this photo and in my usual day to day) hadn't showered in a while. Me. The mom who took two seconds to throw on mascara and make sure my nursing bra was actually hooked. Me. The mom who despite dyeing my hair only a couple weeks ago, found more gray popping through, and dark circles under my eyes and . . . so many things I can pick apart."

Means said that the fact that her daughter looked up to her so much was a perfectly good reason to be just a tad late to church.

"We were late for church. I think God was OK with it," she said. "On this morning, at this moment, I was reminded that despite my mistakes and failures and flaws, I am a good mother."
