I just wrote a book that's not about death but can certainly help when it comes to missing a dad : Always By My Side http://www.amazon.com/Always-My-Side-Susan-Kerner/dp/1595723366/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378997996&sr=8-1&keywords=always+by+my+side

When I read I'll Love Yor Forever I can barely get through it. Since I took care of a father who has since passed away, the book resonates even more with me.

EvieJ - my kids know that we keep I'll Love You Forever hidden because I can't read it without sobbing. Personally, I find the book beyond creepy (the mom climbing in her son's window and all!), but it still gets me every time.

Thanks for the suggestions.

There's another wonderful book, No Matter What, which while not specifically dealing with death or illness, explains that "love never dies". Also, I'll Love You Forever, which deals with aging. Amazing - and I challenge anyone to read it without choking up.
