You Won't Believe How Much Money This Couple Anonymously Donated to the Salvation Army

The Salvation Army graciously accepts donations of all kinds, so when a Minnesota couple dropped a check in the red kettle outside of a grocery store, the organization's volunteers didn't think anything out of the ordinary. What they didn't realize until later was that the check was for $500,000 — the largest donation ever made to a kettle in Twin Cities, NBC reports.

The couple not only wanted to (anonymously) give back to others, but they also wanted to honor a family member: one of their fathers who fought in World War I and was always grateful to the Salvation Army for providing coffee and doughnuts. The Salvation Army is certainly grateful in return; a spokesperson told NBC that they were almost exactly half a million dollars behind their Christmas goal before this incredible donation. Watch NBC's video to get all the sweet details, and you'll definitely find yourself in the mood to give — even if it's something small.
