Former president Barack Obama showed gratitude this Thanksgiving by volunteering at the Greater Chicago Food Depository on Nov. 20. His turkey-pardoning days may be through, but he celebrated the giving season in a special way. In partnership with his nonprofit organization, The Obama Foundation, the former president lent a helping hand to the food bank and gave his fellow volunteers something to smile about. "They do great work making sure those who aren't as fortunate are able to enjoy the kind of Thanksgiving meal that so many of us take for granted," he said of the food depository.
Obama's visit definitely left an impression on a few young volunteers. In an especially sweet moment, he hugged two girls before saying, "You guys are doing such a great job . . . I'm so proud of you." Check out the video below to see their full reaction to his praise; it's pretty priceless.
Thank you to @BarackObama and @ObamaFoundation for joining our volunteers today at the Food Depository. We believe no one should go hungry, especially this time of year, and that’s why we’re working to address the root causes of hunger in Chicago and Cook County. pic.twitter.com/d6YfBjvJl2— Chicago’s Food Bank (@FoodDepository) November 20, 2018
