Everything We Know About Michelle Obama's Final Speech as First Lady

Michelle Obama will deliver her final speech as the sitting first lady at the White House's East Room on Jan. 6. The speech will be in honor of the annual School Counselor of the Year ceremony, which Michelle created in 2015 as part of her Reach Higher initiative.

As the White House press release states, the event will celebrate school counselors across the nation who have been chosen according to the following touchstones: "creative school counseling innovations, effective school counseling programs, leadership skills, and contributions to student enhancement."

Michelle's team also shared the details surrounding her de facto farewell address in a string of Instagram posts, shown below. The second post highlights a moment from Michelle's speech at the Santa Fe Indian School in New Mexico in the Spring of 2016.
