An officer in Jacksonville, FL, has been arrested and fired after he was caught on camera repeatedly beating a woman while other officers stood by and watched. The 26-year-old probationary patrol officer, Akinyemi Borisade, is being charged with battery, according to Undersheriff Pat Ivey, who spoke at a press conference.

In the video above, you can see the woman walking toward Borisade inside the Duval County jail before he grabs her by both arms and shoves her against a wall. She attempts to kick him once and then successfully kicks him before he begins swinging his arm and striking her upper body several times. She then slumps to the ground.

"There are ways that this could have been dealt with without striking her," Ivey said at the conference.

The woman has been identified as 31-year-old Mayra Alejandra Martinez, who works at a strip club in Jacksonville, according to a Florida Times-Union report. She had been arrested earlier in the day on charges of trespassing and resisting officers with violence after the police received calls about a dispute between her and management at the club. It was her first day on the job. The manager said Martinez had had several shots of liquor on the job and refused to leave. She argued she didn't leave because she had personal belongings inside the club, like her purse.

Here you can see a dashcam video of her arrest, which shows two officers, including Borisade, striking her face and body while she is on the ground. Police say she had refused arrest and began kicking and biting them.
