Wondercide Creators to Pitch Their All-Natural Pet Products on Friday's Shark Tank

Wondercide creators Stephanie Boone and Laura Alter are on a mission to keep pesticides out of their daily lives. The natural products created by Stephanie and Laura, including flea and tick spray and bug repellent, are completely free of harsh chemicals so they won't hurt you or your favorite furry friend. Laura and Stephanie's reason for starting Wondercide was more than just to create an all-natural product, though. The need for such a brand came from a sad and terrifying point in Stephanie's life.

"I founded Wondercide after my dog Luna suffered devastating side effects from vet-prescribed flea and tick treatment," she shared. Thankfully, Luna recovered from her illness, but Stephanie still knew she needed to make a change, thus the creation of Wondercide products.

Stephanie and Laura will be featured on March 18's episode of Shark Tank, where they will pitch Wondercide to the sharks in hopes of getting an investment. Scroll through to read more about Laura, Stephanie, and Wondercide, and tune in to ABC on Friday at 9 p.m. EDT to see them on Shark Tank!

What is Wondercide?

What is Wondercide?

Wondercide products are all-natural flea and tick treatments for your pets and for your home. Stephanie and Laura have created a multistep process for treating your pets and their surroundings for fleas, using their products. First, you treat the animal with Flea & Tick for Pets + Home. Then, use that same product to treat the interior of your home. This particular product is made from food-grade ingredients, so you can spray it anywhere without worrying about it poisoning anyone. Lastly, use Flea & Tick for Yard + Garden to treat the exterior of your home to keep the fleas completely away. This product is made from a cedar oil concentrate, so it isn't harmful to people or pets.

Why create this product?

Why create this product?

Aside from Luna getting sick, Stephanie also created Wondercide with Laura to keep pesticides out of their homes completely. According to the EPA, 75 percent of US households use pesticides at home, and Wondercide adds that these chemicals have been linked to childhood cancers, ADHD, autism, chronic allergies, and poisonings, some of which are obviously not things you want to welcome into your home. Stephanie and Laura realized that the market currently offered two things: dangerous pesticides that effectively kill bugs and mild, natural products that don't really work. They created Wondercide to fill that void.

What happened to Luna?

What happened to Luna?

Stephanie's beloved dog, Luna, was exposed to harmful chemicals in a vet-prescribed flea and tick treatment that caused pesticide poisoning. Her symptoms ranged from seizures and chronic skin issues to liver and kidney failure. Stephanie nursed her back to health, even after she was told she was old and ready to go. Luna provided the inspiration for Wondercide, and even though Luna died last year at the seasoned age of 16, Stephanie said, "Her legacy lives on in the work that we do every day in her honor.”
