Trader Joe's is coming through for our felines — again! — this holiday season and bringing back its Advent calendar for cats for the second year. The brand first announced the cat treat calendars back in October 2019 on its podcast, Inside Trader Joe's. In the episode, Matt Sloan, vice president of product marketing, and special guest, Vice President of Merchandising Colin Fields, gave listeners the inside litter scoop on the calendars.

"Last year we came out with the dog Advent calendar, which seemed pretty odd until we got out in the stores and there was quite a following for it," said Colin of the 2018 dog treat calendars. "And we heard from our feline-loving customers that we should have something for their cats. So we found it, we developed it, and it's pretty cool." As for what's inside? "These are magical treats made of salmon and seaweed, and cats actually love seaweed."

After apparently sampling one of the treats, Matt said: "You know what? That's not good. But I'm not a cat." Colin reassured listeners: "But if you're a cat, you'll really like that. And after eating 24 of them, your 25th one will be a gigantic one, shaped like a fish."

These $6 calendars — and the dog version — are on shelves now, so keep an eye out on your next TJ's trip (or you could splurge and purchase one on Amazon for $19). We can't wait to spoil our kitties with 24 delicious salmon and seaweed treats in the days leading up to Christmas — and then surprise them with their giant fish-shaped treat on Christmas morning!
