Pamper Yourself With a 5-Minute DIY Oatmeal Soak

We've all had those days where you just want to go home and soak in a nice hot bath. Prepare in advance by making your own oatmeal bath soak packs, which will make your skin silky and smooth. Oatmeal baths are great for so many skin problems, especially for that dry itchy Winter skin, bug bites, diaper rash, and even poison ivy. It's simple and inexpensive, and your skin is going to love you for it!

Materials:

Materials:

  • Oatmeal (doesn't matter if its whole or quick oats because it will all get mushy in the bathtub anyway.)
  • Favorite dried flowers or essential oils (I used chamomile and lavender)
  • Drawstring cotton fabric bag (you can buy these at most craft stores)
Step 1

Step 1

Pour oatmeal into the bag so it fills halfway up.

Step 2

Step 2

Pour some of your dried flowers into your bag.

Step 3

Step 3

Knot the drawstrings so the oatmeal can't fall out of the bag. (Make a few oatmeal soak packs at once, so you can have them ready in a moment's notice.)

Step 4

Step 4

Relax into your hot bath. Squeeze the bag over and over in the water. Your bath will get nice and milky. You can also rub the bag on the dry parts of your body and allow nature to do its work. Soak for about 15-20 minutes and enjoy. You deserve it.

Note: If you can't make it to the store for a bag, just cut up an old t-shirt or use some scrap fabric to put your oatmeal and dried flowers inside. Then gather the edges of the fabric and secure with a rubber band.

Here are some combinations you may want to try:

  • Lavender, chamomile, oatmeal (shown here)
  • Rose hips, chamomile, oatmeal
  • Citrus essential oil, oatmeal
  • Peppermint essential oil, oatmeal

Don’t forget you can always just use plain oatmeal as well.
