After spending 72 consecutive hours with your besties in the great outdoors, where your only responsibilities were to drink in the sunshine and groove to some amazing music, returning to an ordinary routine could not be more of a letdown. But don't despair — help is on the way with these six tips for curing the postfestival blues.

Get some exercise

Get some exercise

Chances are three days of dancing, sun-worshipping, eating, and drinking have wrung your body dry and left you feeling depleted — maybe even a little sad. While it's tempting to crawl under the covers and hibernate until next year's music festival, a better option is to get moving again. Stretch out your tired body in a yoga class or go on a brisk walk around the neighborhood, and kick the happy endorphins into gear. Even better: ask a friend to join you for a workout and swap stories about your weekends. Meanwhile, don't forget to keep your hydration game on point by drinking plenty of water.

If you're going to be reminiscing about the weekend you just had anyway, you might as well put that time to good use and work on a memories project. Collect photos from everyone in the squad to ensure that there's a variety of perspectives and hilarious candid moments, and then arrange them online in a way that weaves together a visual story of the epic weekend. Add some captions to the pics so you'll never forget all the silly phrases, inside jokes, and weird confessions that came out of this time together.

Laughter is good for you! Curling up in the comfort of your own home with a funny movie or bingeing the latest Netflix original series is just what the doctor ordered for a postweekend hangover. For a serious dose of uplifting, infectious joy, binge some episodes of a hilarious show that will keep the laughs coming.

Create a playlist

Create a playlist

Friendship and fun were high priorities over the weekend, but you probably also discovered a few great new artists while wandering from stage to stage. Finding new tunes for your music collection is invigorating, and you can spend some time reminiscing about the weekend while curating a playlist that has all the right vibes. From now on, all you'll need are some headphones whenever you want to replay those festival memories.

Take to your journal

Any adventure outside of our everyday routine has the possibility to be life-changing. We're literally breathing new air and treading new ground. Most likely, you made some new friends over the festival weekend and found yourself in situations or conversations that wouldn't have otherwise happened. Perhaps one of these even turned into a revelatory moment. Writing down the thoughts or emotions that came up over the weekend will help you process the experience and may even provide you with a new perspective on a preexisting issue — even if some of them read, "FML, I feel awful."

06
Start thinking about the next adventure

Start thinking about the next adventure

As a kid, that agonizing disappointment at the conclusion of a holiday or birthday was eased by thinking about the next fun thing ("Summer vacation is just around the corner!"). As adults, we have even more control over what we do with our free time, so take a minute to indulge in some vacation fantasy. Where to next? With whom? Planes, trains, or automobiles? Swimming, dancing, resting? The normalcy of day-to-day life will always be waiting for you, and there's no harm in putting it off for a second as you revel in a vacation dreamscape. So, what'll it be? Beach resort relaxation or jungle adventure? City sophistication or scenic quietude? The possibilities are exciting and endless.
