I went from never caring about going on a cruise to being someone who literally can't wait to go back — and it's all because of Disney. Disney Cruise Line is the cream of the crop when it comes to cruises, and lucky for us, we're about to get not one, not two, but three new ships added to Disney's fleet, nearly doubling it when all is said in done (in 2023).

Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, surprised the crowd at this year's D23 expo when he announced the expansions that promise to take the family cruise experience to a whole new level. Joining the other two new ships that were announced just last year, all three ships will be powered by liquefied natural gas, one of the cleanest-burning fuels available.

"We decided two ships wouldn't be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney," said Chapek.

According to Disney, the names of the ships, as well as what their itineraries will be, are still in development. All three ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, with scheduled completion dates of 2021 and 2023.
