Female Programmer Didn't Get the Job Because of How She Looks

Elizabeth Bentivegna, a college senior in Ohio and female programmer, says she was denied a job because of how she dressed and did her makeup. Her story is going viral after her friend and BuzzFeed writer Alanna Bennett tweeted out Bentivegna's Facebook post about the interview. She wore a black shirt, red skater skirt, black tights, and a black cardigan, but the recruiter said she looked like she was going to a club.

On Shift, the company she mentions, is a company that "delivers cloud-based software and proactive services to solve everyday workforce challenges in healthcare," according to its website. We have reached out to them for comment and will update if we hear back.
