How Legos Are Helping the Fight For the Environment

We are head over heels for Lego, but this video from Greenpeace, an environmental nonprofit organization, has put our favorite building block toy in a completely different light. In it, Lego versions of polar bears, wolves, ice hockey players, and even Game of Thrones characters are completely drenched in sticky oil as an acoustic version of "Everything Is Awesome" from The Lego Movie plays solemnly in the background.

The video was created to protest Lego's 50-year partnership with Shell, a Netherlands-based oil and gas company with oil drilling outlets in the Arctic. It was so effective that Lego officially decided not to renew the co-promotion contract with Shell. "We are determined to leave a positive impact on society and the planet that children will inherit," wrote Lego CEO Jorgen Vig Knudstorp.
