What Happened After This Love Note on a Bill Went Viral

This is the story of ex-lovers who got back in touch after a photo of money went viral on Facebook. Normal, right?

A few days ago, an Irish woman named Denise O'Reilly realized one of her euro bills had a love note on it. It said, "Christy, it's always been you! Come find me. — Megan." Denise posted it on Facebook, hoping people would help reunite the two, and it quickly went viral with almost 16,000 shares.

An Irish radio station heard about the story and found Christy, who explained everything in an email.

"Megan was the name I used to call my ex-girlfriend. We went out for a year and a half. The name arose from when I misheard her name and thought she was Megan for our first week of dating. Then it stuck," he said.

Turns out, he's a musician and wrote her a song called "It's Always Been You" when they were dating, but they eventually parted ways.

"We broke up, she met someone new. After I saw the 20 euro note on a FB post, I called her. She told me she had written it on a note she used to pay into one of my gigs about six months ago. I didn't know she was there. She told me she thought I'd get the cash directly but I obviously didn't. She took it that I didn't want to talk."

So what happened after that? "Now we're in touch again but the situation is quite different," he wrote. Sigh. Doesn't sound like the happiest ending, but here's to hoping.
