Everyone Is Totally Obsessed With This New App — Celebs Included

MyIdol is the top trending phenomenon that has blown our minds . . . and we still can't decide if it's totally creepy or cool. The Chinese lifestyle app lets you create a 3D avatar that looks just like you simply by taking a quick pic of your face and imposing it on a virtual body. Then, you're on your way to a new life where you can sing, dance, play guitar, dress funky, pole dance, and pretty much fulfill *most* of your wildest dreams.

You can also make multiple avatars, which means creating ones of your friends. Haven't you ever wanted to see that one shy co-worker sing? There's just one major downside — everything (instructions, song lyrics, the choice between "male" and female," etc.) is all in Chinese. But there's a nifty translation guide until the app releases its promised English update, and the app is pretty easy to figure out even without the guide.

Celebs like Miley Cyrus, Kat Dennings, and John Mayer have all jumped on board, so maybe it's time you check it out too. Take a look.

Even John Mayer's alter ego is trying to serenade you

Lena Dunham took a new route and threw together a MyIdol collage

We can relate to Kat Dennings's feelings: slightly horrified but not enough to stop

If you're interested in being a part of this crazy trending weirdness, you can get it for free from the App Store. Unfortunately, it's only for iPhone users, but a popular app like this can't stay in one market for long.
