Facebook Is Working on a Drunk Photo Prevention Tool

It happens to the best of us. The night starts with a cab ride downtown and ends with many rounds of shots on the bartender. Next thing you know, you're uploading photos to Facebook in a drunken stupor. Well, some really smart people at Facebook are working on a new tool that will basically say, "go home, you're drunk," if you are, in fact, drunk. The company's artificial intelligence research team has figured out a way to recognize what your drunken self looks like, according to a report from Wired. The feature uses the same technology that automatically recognizes your friends' faces in photos. When it recognizes an incriminating intoxicated photo, it may prompt you with a message that says something like, "This photo is being posted publicly. Are you sure you want your mom to see this?"

If you've ever had alcohol-induced social media regret, this tool is going to be the best thing that happened to your Facebook. And it's an especially welcome addition now that you can search through your and your friends' old posts more easily than ever. Phew, crisis averted.
