If you're not sure whether you'd be into the wacky comedy or the intense rescue film, flip through all the pictures to find out what's in store from each movie and let us know which you may be seeing this weekend!
A crew of Hollywood bombshells — from Olivia Wilde in a jaw-dropping Gucci gown to Selena Gomez and Eva Longoria in high-wattage red confections — gave this week's top 10 one very clear common denominator: a decidedly glamorous tilt. Film premieres and parties meant we were treated to a range of red-carpet styles, both cocktail dresses with a sweet Spring feel and floor-length gowns with drama-inducing effects. But to see who else joined this week's most stylish set, you'll have to keep clicking.
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone follows the life of a man who aims to leave people in awe, and while the movie itself doesn't reach those kinds of heights, it is a comedy with a few laughs and a cast that wins you over. Steve Carell headlines as title character Burt Wonderstone, a Vegas Strip mainstay whose flashy shtick has grown tired. Steve Buscemi plays his stage partner Anton, and when their act is challenged by flagging ticket sales and newer, more modern competitors, the two childhood best friends have a falling out, leaving Burt to rediscover his touch. Burt's road to a comeback is entertaining and full of goofiness that's quite dumb but still amusing.
The silliness of the movie is balanced out by how irreverent its sense of humor is. This is best demonstrated by Jim Carrey's character Steve Gray, a Criss Angel-like street magician more interested in shocking the masses than dazzling them. The gags ring true, and the observations about the business of magic are sharp and give The Incredible Burt Wonderstone an edge — not just an excuse to put the actors in ridiculous costumes. The lampooning of the industry and the jokes both provide a good time, even if the movie isn't destined to be a comedy classic. Find out what else I thought after the jump.
Olivia Wilde has made the sultry smoky eye her go-to makeup look, and at last night's The Incredible Burt Wonderstone premiere she updated the classic style with a metallic spin.
First makeup artist Melanie Inglessis used a wet sponge to apply foundation and blush for a dewy complexion. Next she applied Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer ($10) as a base. Inglessis started to add color by drawing a thick black line around the top and bottom lash line using Colorstay Eyeliner ($7). "It doesn't have to be perfect, as it will be blended," Inglessis explains. "The darker around the rim of the eyes, the sexier the eyes will look."
Once Olivia's eyes were lined, Inglessis used the Torch Smoky Shadow Stick ($9) on the lids and underneath the eye. She then topped the cream with a burgundy shade from the Revlon Colorstay Eyeshadow Quad in Precocious ($8). "The trick to a good smoky eye is blending," Inglessis says. "Blend all of the colors with a medium or small brush. I like to blend a smoky eye with a strong but light shimmer eye shadow on the outside and inner corner of the eyes for brightness." She used the Diamond Lust Eye Shadow in Starry Pink ($5). She finished the look with a touch of mascara and a dab of baby-pink lip color. This classic look works for anyone with or without a red carpet affair.
Olivia Wilde just kicked off her promotional tour for her latest movie, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, looking nothing short of immaculate on the red carpet. For the LA premiere, the actress donned a gorgeous black Gucci Pre-Fall 2013 gown featuring a netting detail. Olivia Wilde, Steve Carell, and Jim Carrey joined up to premiere The Incredible Burt Wonderstone in LA yesterday. Olivia wore a stunning black Gucci gown to pose for photos while her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, bypassed the red carpet and headed straight into the event at the famed Chinese Theatre. Steve, meanwhile, posed with his wife, Nancy. Other celebrity attendees included magician David Copperfield, Melissa Joan Hart, and Steven Tyler.
The Hollywood debut comes just a few days after the cast flew out to Austin to screen the film at SXSW and less than 24 hours after Olivia Wilde's interview in Marie Claire came out. In the magazine feature, Olivia spoke about her relationship with Jason and her 2011 divorce from Italian aristocrat Tao Ruspoli. She said, "I'm so grateful for the pain and the heartbreak [from the divorce]. It gave me the courage to leave and brought me to the great love of my life."
Olivia Wilde gets honest about her relationship with Jason Sudeikis in the April issue of Marie Claire, which hits newsstands on March 19. She posed in a sheer blue dress for the cover of the magazine and opened up about her insecurities when she first started dating Saturday Night Live star Jason. Olivia also revealed their plans for children in the future and details on their romantic, and kiss-less, first date. Read on for more from Olivia Wilde in Marie Claire.
- On her first meeting with Jason Sudeikis: "We were both seeing people but were single. He seemed to really see me, see through the bullsh*t. He said very few words and couldn't keep eye contact. He was so handsome, and he could dance."
- On her first date with Jason: "I thought, 'I'm not beautiful enough or his type.' I couldn’t wait to sit down and hear him talk. On our first date, in New York City, we closed the restaurant down at 2 a.m.! He didn't kiss me, and I was madly in love. I was overwhelmed."
- On having kids: "We've discussed all our ideals and hopes. I can't wait for children. I'm open-minded about how many, but three, which I love, is like a little party."
Olivia Wilde is not afraid to try out new things when it comes to hair and makeup — definitely a good trait for a Revlon brand ambassador. Throughout her career, Olivia has tried on multiple hair colors from jet black to honey blond for various roles, and she has a penchant for dramatic eye makeup. Today she is turning 29, and we're celebrating with her best hair and makeup moments.
