The Voice: What Do You Think of Usher and Shakira?

The Voice returned to NBC this week, with a couple of new butts in those red rotating chairs.

The Voice returned to NBC this week, with a couple of new butts in those red rotating chairs. Usher and Shakira are currently replacing Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, giving the musical competition an interesting new twist. Usher — who already has his own signature sitting position — tried to woo contestants to his team with slick lines (and the casual Justin Bieber mention). Shakira tried to represent the ladies as best she could, gushing about her passion for various contestants and even whipping out a Southern accent to land a country singer.

Even if you prefer the old coaches, it's still fun to get some new banter combinations in there: Adam Levine teased Shakira for not being American, and pretty much everyone had to acknowledge the fact that Usher might know more about the star-making business than anyone. We'll have to wait and see how they fare as coaches, but what do you think of Usher and Shakira so far?

Michelle Obama got some serious pop star support when she hosted the Kids' Inaugural concert in Washington DC last night. Michelle was joined by her daughters, Malia and Sasha, and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden as she thanked the military men and women in the audience for their service and introduced the night's performers, including Katy Perry and Usher. Katy gave a particularly patriotic performance, dressed in a star-spangled romper, while Usher chose an all-black ensemble. Other acts of the night included the cast of Glee and the Soul Children of Chicago. The Kids' Inaugural concert kicks off the 57th presidential inauguration, which takes place on Monday. Despite all the other glamorous balls and events, Michelle talked about how the Kids' Inaugural has become her favorite moment of the weekend. She told the crowd, "Inauguration is a really big deal. There're balls. Everybody dresses up and dances. Let me tell you: I love every single minute of it. Every single minute. But I have to tell you that my very favorite part of this entire weekend is being right here with all of you."

Taylor and Justin Win Big at the American Music Awards

The American Music Awards went down in LA on Sunday night!

The American Music Awards went down in LA on Sunday night! Usher opened a show that went on to feature many performances from some of the biggest stars in the music industry. Gwen Stefani and the guys of No Doubt put on a show, as did Kelly Clarkson and Ke$ha. Taylor Swift performed her soon-to-be-released single "I Knew You Were Trouble." She changed out of the gold Zuhair Murad number she wore on the red carpet and into two elaborate costumes. Justin Bieber hit the stage too for a rendition of his songs "As Long as You Love Me" and "Beauty and a Beat." Pink put on an acrobatic, energetic performance, and Christina Aguilera wore a tiny costume to sing a song of her own.

As for the awards, Taylor and Justin were big winners. After arriving with his mom, Pattie Mallette, as his date, Justin picked up an early honor for best pop or rock male artist. He was also recognized with favorite pop/rock album and, right at the end of the show, artist of the year. Taylor, meanwhile, was crowned favorite female country artist. Further honors went to best new artist Carly Rae Jepsen and favorite country band Lady Antebellum. Carrie Underwood also has a new statue to celebrate with, having won best country album — check out the full list of American Music Awards winners!
