Setting sprays have become a makeup bag essential, perfect for sealing foundation so that it stays in place and emphasizing the pigment in eye shadows and the like. However, they can get pricey. Thankfully, this new DIY is cutting through those costs to deliver an affordable setting spray option that still gets the job done.

Beauty vlogger Tonje of Fluke of Makeup recently shared her homemade formula that just takes two ingredients and a few minutes to make. While commercial setting sprays usually require special polymers, fragrant extracts, glycerin, and water, Tonje emphasizes that those last two ingredients are the most essential. The water adds moisture, and the glycerin acts as a glue that locks it (and your makeup!) into your skin.

You can re-create the spray by pouring four teaspoons of glycerin into an empty spray bottle and filling the rest up with water. In the video, Tonje adds a few spritzes of perfume to add a fragrance, however, we'd be wary of adding this into the mix as it could irritate your complexion. Instead, we recommend adding rosewater or a light essential oil if you'd like an added scent.
