Baking Your Face

Though "baking your face" has long been popular in the drag queen community, it went mega mainstream this Summer. This technique, also know as "cooking," consists of layering a heavy application of translucent powder over concealer and leaving it for around 10 minutes, using your body's natural heat to "bake" the concealer into any creases or lines in the skin. In this video, Tati shows us firsthand how to create a gorgeous, lasting finish.

Ombré Your Lips

Still obsessed with Kylie Jenner lips?? An ombré pucker can give you a full-pout effect minus an injection or bruising. Here, Popsugar beauty video host Kirbie Johnson used lipstick, liner, concealer, and clear gloss to create a faded look and an optical illusion of fullness. She shows the versatility — and ease — of this lipstick trend by demonstrating two looks in under a minute and a half.

Red Lipstick Concealer

While the jury is still out about whether this hack is a major fail or saving grace, we couldn't make this list without including perhaps the most widely debated hack of 2015. The technique may not be new, however this tutorial from Deepica Mutyala turned the under-eye-bag solution into mainstream trick. While we'd like to think a steady hand and good liner are enough to nail the look, often it's not. That's where the tape method — and this tutorial from Tina Yong — comes in. Some may call it cheating, but we just call it genius.

Mascara as Eyeliner

Run out of eyeliner or find yourself on a trip with a limited product spread? Shonagh Scott explained how to use your mascar and a small brush to create an eyeliner look. Insta-Matte Lipstick

2015 was definitely matte's time to (not) shine — in polish and in lipstick. Though many shades now come in flat versions, this tutorial from AlexandrasGirlyTalk demonstrates an easy trick for converting your favorite classic stick. After applying and dabbing with a piece of toilet paper, add a topcoat of translucent powder, and blend in to reveal a fully matted color.

Triangle Concealer

While each of Kirbie's concealer tips are worth of the beauty Bible, we want to direct your attention specifically to tip #7, where she spotlights one of the biggest topics of makeup technique this year. Many us were previouslu taught to apply under-eye concealer in half moon shapes — aka, the terribly wrong way! However, using a triangle shape instead lifts the eyes to create a more youthful glow.
