Here's How to Get Blake Lively's Sultry Finger Waves No Matter Your Hair Length

The premise was seriously dreamy — to remain unaging at 29 for decades — and Blake Lively played it out beautifully in The Age of Adaline. Along with being an enticing movie premise, watching her strut around with sultry finger waves was seriously inspiring. If you're interested in trying out this look for yourself, here's a tutorial for an easy-to-DIY finger wave faux bob.

Start Creating Waves

Mist hair with hair spray, then brush it through. Once you've done that, use your flat iron to create finger waves. To create the wave, curve the flat iron to create a C shape in the direction of your head. Then create a C-shaped wave going in the opposite direction. This may take a little practice.

Continue changing the direction of each C-shaped wave as you travel down your hair. When you're finished, you should have created S-shaped waves.

Comb It Out

Follow the shape of the waves in each section that you curl (this will keep it uniform). Once you've finished waving the hair, lightly comb it out.

Place hair clips where the waves change direction, then liberally apply hair spray. Once you've sprayed hair, remove the clips and replace them with bobby pins.

Now it's time to bob the hair: Separate hair into two sections. Lightly twist the face-framing waves inward, then tuck under at the nape of your neck and secure with bobby pins. Hide the hair or create a loose bun.
