Hailee Steinfeld's Translucent French Manicure Is a Birthday Gift to Us All

It may have been Hailee Steinfeld's 26th birthday on Dec. 11, but she decided to give the world a gift with her latest take on the french manicure.

Let us be clear: this is not your average french manicure. While it did involve the look's trademark white tips, go-to celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik decided to give Steinfeld's nails a sparkly, plus-up treatment: he painted the base of the nails a gold glitter polish color that matched the multihyphenate star's mesh dress, all the way up to the tips of the nails. Then, instead of stopping there, he added clear gel extensions that he left unpainted, filing the extra length into an almond shape for extra dramatic effect. The end result was a translucent french manicure that looked both glam and edgy — not to mention the perfect inspiration for any upcoming holiday party.

Steinfeld finished the look with a bronze smoky eye courtesy of makeup artist Ash K Holm and soft, cascading waves by hairstylist Laura Polko. The star's nail art was only one of many fun designs she's experimented with this year — from her themed Valentine's Day manicure to her subtle "supermodel" nails — but this is most certainly her boldest.
