Hailee Steinfeld is ready for Valentine's Day. The "Dickinson" star just got a fresh manicure from celebrity nail artist Tom Bachik, and it's perfect for those who don't love over-the-top nail art. Steinfeld's nails feature a neutral base and tiny, hand-painted white hearts on each finger. Embodying the phrase "less is more," the minimalist manicure showcases the negative-space nail-art trend.

"Hand painted white hearts on the perfect nude for @haileesteinfeld 🤍💅🏻," reads the caption on Bachik's Instagram post. The base nail-polish color has a matte finish and all but vanishes next to Steinfeld's skin tone. She opted out of wearing any gel or acrylic extensions on her fingertips; instead, her natural nails were cut short and filed to a rounded edge.

Steinfeld's take on Valentine's Day nail art is in stark contrast to many of the celebrity-loved nail-art trends circulating at the moment, such as the "Kawaii" trend and Y2K-inspired designs. It perhaps signals a shift in the beauty space: her simple design comes immediately on the heels of Jennifer Lopez's neutral French manicure, which also happens to be Bachik's handiwork. Could we be seeing the departure of extravagant nail art?
