Lucy Hale Shares Her Tip For Making a Baby Face Look More Mature
When it comes to beauty, we're obviously obsessed. Must-try haircuts? Know 'em. Crisp cat eye? Mastered it. But putting all that knowledge into practice — as in, leaving the house looking like an Instagram model ready for her close-up — isn't always possible. Sometimes, we skip that perfect cat eye, throw our hair into a bun, and call it a day. Turns out, Pretty Litle Liars star Lucy Hale totally gets it.
The celebrity ambassador for Blowpro chatted with us during a brand event at Lord & Taylor, and our conversation felt like we were talking with an old friend. From reminiscing about throwback beauty trends to the fact that she sometimes just air-dries her hair, every answer was so freakin' real that we're now, admittedly, superfans.
Read on for all the reasons Lucy Hale should be your latest beauty icon, then check out her new and improved style from season six of PLL.
She Actually Uses the Products She Endorses
While many celebrities sign on as spokespeople for brands they don't use IRL, Lucy's face lit up as she revealed the Blowpro products she truly loves: the dry shampoo ($20) and the texture spray ($20). "It’s nice to partner with [a company] where you actually believe in what you’re selling," she said.
She Definitely Has Those Low-Maintenance Days
While Lucy's go-to style is currently "messy waves," she admits that if she doesn't have to do her hair, she won't. "I let it air-dry so that it has a nice texture or I just pull it back. For me, shorter hair is harder to style. It’s harder to master." We feel ya, girl.
She Knows That Certain Styles Will Help Her Look Older
Lucy has been blessed with a baby face, so she'll look eternally youthful (lucky!), but sometimes, she'll want to look more mature. After giving it some thought, Lucy revealed she opts for straighter hair for those occasions. "Sleeker hair makes me look a little bit older," she said.
Her Industry Insider Tip Is Actually Really Easy
Lucy says that during all the years she's been in the spotlight, curling her hair with a straightener is the best tip she's received. "It gives it a different kind of vibe." Bonus: it's easy to do!
She's Had Her Fair Share of Cringeworthy Beauty Moments
We couldn't help but ask Lucy which throwback beauty trend makes her cringe. "Like frosted lip gloss?" she asked, clearly remembering some questionable times. (The aughts, maybe?) "I’ve definitely been through some rough phases. I think crimped hair is really bad. Like, really bad, actually."
Her Current Beauty Icon Is One of Ours, Too
"Kristin Ess, who cuts my hair," Lucy said, pointing to her "current beauty icon" and friend (pictured on the left). "Her Instagram is just . . . the coolest." We agree.
