Bite Beauty's Newest Formula Is a Lipstick-Lover's Dream Come True

I have been wearing lipstick ever since fifth grade, when my mom let me buy a brick-hued Bonne Bell Flipstick from the drugstore (hey, it was the '90s!). Even though that was nearly 20 years ago, I have still been pursuing the same high that I felt when gleefully applying that product for the first time. Since then, I've heavily built out my makeup collection, including everything from hundreds of lacquers to countless mascaras, but lip color remains the most prevalent type of item in my stash.

While I have a large quantity of lipsticks, I'm ultimately looking for quality. The best formulas in my collection all boast the same characteristics: rich, creamy, as durable as they are pigmented. The lipsticks in Bite Beauty's newest launch, Amuse Bouche ($26), have every one of these features and more.

Each bullet is handmade at the company's facilities in Toronto and the colors are mixed in small batches. Some brands mix and produce large amounts of their products, which can sometimes cause discrepancies in shades and formulas. A process like Bite's prevents any variations. The formula is loaded with 12 nutritious (and edible) oils, like avocado and coconut, to nourish your lips, while the company's signature ingredient, resveratrol, provides powerful free radical defense.

There are 34 tints to choose from — a huge assortment for a new launch — in a wide range of shades, suitable for every complexion. There are vibrant hues, vampy ones, and a bevy of neutrals, but my favorite Amuse Bouche lipstick is Persimmon, a nearly neon orange-red.

When I applied it for the first time, I was surprised (and impressed) by the intensity of the color payoff. One delicate swipe left a buttery streak behind, in addition to a delicious citrusy scent. Not only did the formula feel featherlight on my lips, but one application lasted for at least six hours without requiring any touch-ups. Even better, I received a handful of compliments. I plan on wearing Persimmon well into Summer — it'll pop against a faux tan!
