George Clooney and his new girlfriend, Amal Alamuddin, both had big grins on their tanned faces when they stepped out for dinner in NYC on Tuesday night. The couple is fresh off a trip to Africa where they went on a safari in Tanzania and, later, visited the island of Seychelles. George and the Lebanese lawyer have been friends for some time, but, apparently, their romance is still very new. Rumors about the couple's relationship status popped up earlier this year when he took her to a special screening of The Monuments Men at the White House. At the time, George's date caused a bit of controversy, as Amal is currently representing WikiLeakes founder Julian Assange in his extradition case in Sweden.
Amal isn't like the women that George has dated in the past, as she has no connection to the entertainment industry. His previously girlfriends included WWE wrestler-turned-model Stacy Keibler (who just got married) and Italian model-slash-reality star Elisabetta Canalis. According to sources, Amal's non-showbiz interests may be what drew the A-list actor to her. One source said, "He's with someone who is a very accomplished attorney. She isn't someone who is pursuing a career in acting or entertainment. She's on his level." Another added that "she's very smart and can hold a conversation."
