Tom Brady on Disciplining His Kids: "Typically, That’s More the Man’s Role"

Tom Brady returned to the field with his New England Patriots last week after his four-game Deflategate suspension and recently sat down with People to discuss his other big role in life: as a dad to sons Jack and Benjamin and daughter Vivian. The NFL quarterback, who shares Benjamin and Vivian with wife Gisele Bündchen, opened up about needing "more patience" with his kids, adding, "I have a quick fuse sometimes, so when they're older I imagine them going, 'Dad, you were so hard on me . . . '" When it comes to keeping things in control, Tom said, "I think discipline's important, and typically that's more the man's role in the house."

In addition to his somewhat antiquated thoughts on disciplining the kids, Tom also admitted that he isn't as tough on 3-year-old Vivian. "No way. It's too hard — she's too cute," he said. "She just says, 'Dad, please?' and I say 'Okay.'" He confessed that Gisele has different ideas about it: "My wife always says, 'You gotta be tougher on her!' and I say, 'I can't.' [Vivian]'s, like, half my wife, so you know . . . that's just the way it goes."
