Halloween Kills: Everything We Know About the Bloody Sequel, From the Cast to the Story

Will Michael Myers ever really, truly die? Not likely, at least as far as the Halloween franchise is concerned. Thanks to the celebrated reboot of the horror film that stalked into theaters in 2018 and quickly became the highest-grossing installment in the blood-soaked series, Universal announced in July that two sequels are officially on the way.

David Gordon Green and Danny McBride will return to write both of the new films in the rebooted trilogy, with Green on board as director. The first of the pair is titled Halloween Kills and is due out on Oct. 16, 2020, while Halloween Ends will arrive in 2021. As we eagerly await more of Myers and his knife skills, we've gathered the bits of news about the first of the sequels, Halloween Kills, that the studio has graciously shared, ahead.

Jamie Lee Curtis's tough-as-nails Laurie Strode will once again be in the sequel, as well as her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), who help Laurie fend off Michael in the latest film. You can also expect Nick Castle to come back to play "The Shape."

Ready to see one of your favorite Real Housewives go up against Michael Myers? Variety reports that RHOBH star Kyle Richards, the actress who played Lindsey Wallace in the original 1978 film, will be reprising her role in Halloween Kills. Lindsey and Tommy Doyle were the children Laurie was babysitting the night Michael's killing spree began, changing the course of their lives forever.

"I really wanted to be so badly," Richards told Us Weekly of hounding the producers for a chance to be involved in the sequel. "And I've never done this in my life. I literally reached out and said, 'Can I be in it in any capacity? I'll be an extra. I'll do anything.' But they didn't think that it was going to fit in with the story or something." Clearly they changed their minds!

As for Tommy, The Dead Zone's Anthony Michael Hall has signed on to play him. The character was portrayed in the first movie by Brian Andrews, and again by Paul Rudd in 1995's Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, when he teams up with Dr. Loomis.

Although the plots for both of the spooky follow-ups to 2018's Halloween are still under wraps, we can assume that Michael escapes the fiery trap Laurie Strode lays for him at the conclusion of Halloween and is eager to continue his reign of terror. Since the new trilogy has essentially wiped the slate clean of any stories from the other films in the franchise with the exception of the 1978 original — for instance, Laurie is no longer Michael's long-lost sister — it seems Tommy and Lindsey's reappearance will be more a nod to the severe trauma that comes with surviving a run-in with Michael. We saw this in 2018's Halloween, with Laurie unable to move on with her life, having spent all her free time dedicated to killing him.
