Pride and Prejudice and Zombies star Matt Smith will play Prince Philip and Wolf Hall actress Claire Foy will take on the role of the queen. Jared Harris, Vanessa Kirby, John Lithgow, and Greg Wise are also set to star.

The scripted series is directed by Stephen Daldry and created and written by Peter Morgan, the mastermind behind the 2006 film The Queen starring Helen Mirren.

The story centers around the political intrigues and romances that happened behind the scenes during the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II. It will focus on the second half of the 20th century, and each season (assuming Netflix greenlights it beyond season one) will explore a different decade of the Queen's ruling. As seen in the trailer, season one begins with the princess at age 25.

With a budget of £100 million (about $123 million) and extravagant period costumes, The Crown is said to be Netflix's most expensive series yet.

The show will premiere on Nov. 4 on Netflix.
