Freddie Prinze Jr. Returns to Rom-Coms With New Holiday Movie "Christmas With You"

Freddie Prinze Jr. is coming back to the screen for the holidays. The trailer for Netflix's "Christmas With You" was released on Oct. 19, and it looks like the perfect blend of music, romance, and festive holiday charm.

It also marks Prinze Jr.'s first time returning to a major motion picture since 2008's "Jack and Jill vs. the World," per IMDB. "As nervous as I was getting back into making movies, I couldn't have picked a more lovely film or a more perfect group to work with," the star told Tudum. "They made me love this business again."

Prinze Jr. has voiced a number of characters in animated movies since 2008, and he has also appeared in a number of TV shows, including 2021's "Punky Brewster." But the star is most beloved for his filmography, famously starring alongside his future wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in 1998.

Gellar, who also took a step back from acting over the last decade, previously opened up to POPSUGAR about her and her husband's decision to return to entertainment after taking a hiatus from the screen while raising their kids. The pair share two children, Charlotte and Rocky, who turned 13 and 10, respectively, in September 2022. "They get to an age where they're so much more independent," Gellar said. "Thanks to the invention of FaceTime and all the things, you can still be connected and in a different way — and it just felt like that they were of an age where they could handle it."

Clearly Gellar and Prinze Jr. are dedicated parents, and Prinze Jr. looks poised to play another devoted dad in "Christmas With You." Ahead, check out what we know about it.

"Christmas With You" tells the story of a pop star named Angelina who is tasked with writing a Christmas song against her wishes. After learning that a young fan's Christmas wish is to meet her, Angelina travels to small-town New York and winds up connecting with the child's widowed dad, who turns out to be a musician and songwriter as well.

Prinze Jr. plays the dad in the movie, and Aimee Garcia plays Angelica. Deja Monique Cruz plays his daughter, Cristina.

"Christmas With You" will premiere on Netflix on Nov. 17.
